Zack and Miri Make a Porno on DVD 2/3/09

I saw this in the theater last November, and it's already out on DVD! For those of you who missed it, you can not only catch the Kevin Smith comedy featuring some of the usual suspects, Jay Mewes and Jeff Anderson, plus Apatow alums Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks in the title roles, but a slew of extras on the two-disc special edition.

Indeed, the deleted scenes and outtakes from the movie add up to longer than the actual film! The extras include a de rigueur "Making of" featurette, 43 deleted scenes, webisodes, the panel interview at ComicCon, outtakes, ad-libs and bloopers and Seth vs. Justin: The Battle for Improvisational Supremacy
(Long wins hands down!).

At one point, Rogen and Smith do a spoof with Rogen suggesting Smith let the cameras roll Apatow-style to pick up improvisational genius and Smith insisting that he likes to stick close to the script and that Rogen should be more like Ben Affleck.

Yeah, right.

If you're a Kevin Smith fan, you should see it. If you're a Seth Rogen fan, you should see it. Or if you've got a soft spot for the moppy haired Mac guy, definitely see it. Justin Long, who claims to have taken the role of the gay porn star Brandon St. Randy just to deliver the line "Shut your mouth or I'm gonna fuck it," is by far the most hysterical thing in the movie. Even Smith declared at ComicCon that Long saved the movie.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno is available on DVD--just in time for Valentine's Day! 'Cuz nothing says "I love you" like watching a raunchy romantic comedy together.
