Last night's episode of Pushing Daisies was titled "Lighthouse," but I think it should have been called "Cake vs. Pie."
Like that's a difficult choice. C'mon--it's obviously PIE!!!
Okay, I'm a sucker for a death by chocolate cake (the one Ned whipped up for Charles Charles looked absolutely delicious!), but when the choice is between succulent pie (or in this case the delectable Piemaker) or crumbly cake (ala Chuck's decrepit Dad) it's a no-brainer.
In addition to his creepy, gauze-covered countenance, Chuck's Dad has a major chip on his shoulder regarding Ned. "You killed me," he tells the poor Piemaker. His shopping list for Chuck reads: "Slippers, mouthwash, the last twenty years of my life back..." Fortunately--despite the tug-of-war (and knock-down, drag-out fight--I mean "tussle" or "scuffle"...) between "Deadly Nedly" and Charles Charles, Chuck choose Ned telling him, "I told him the spoon lands here."
Meanwhile Olive and Emerson team up to solve the lighthouse murder. While widowed diorama designer Annabelle Vandersloop (Mary Kay Place) doesn't think much of Olive Snook ("Tis better to have loved and lost then to be you..."), Emerson is duly impressed telling her she has a place to go if she ever decides to leave the Piehole. "Itty-bitty, you made me love a rainy day again," the persnickety P.I. tells his pint-sized partner.
As Annabelle Vandersloop would say, "Life. You just can't make this crap up!"
Well, actually you can but that's not the point...
